The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology, Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, is fully equipped with essential laboratory equipment namely semi-automatic microtome, centrifuge, electronic weighing balance and semi-automatic analyzer for performing a histopathological examination of tissues and hematological investigations. Immunohistochemistry lab contains essential immunohistochemical markers to aid in diagnosis. Department has 5 headed research microscope with Phase contrast, Darkfield, Polarizer and Bright Field Microscope facility along with Image analysis software for case discussions and research purpose. The department has separate UG training section and PG training section and common seminar room equipped with the projector for scientific presentations. Department library contains recommended books and reference books for undergraduates and postgraduates.

Stereo microscopes

Stereo microscopes, also known as dissecting microscopes, are optical microscopes designed for viewing objects in three dimensions at low magnification. The main purpose of a stereomicroscope examine the surface of, tissue slices, or large structures. At the levels of magnification found in a stereomicroscope (typically between 2.5X and about 100X), the ‘analysis’ is actually detection or presumptive testing.

PENTA HEAD MICROSCOPE

The Penta Head Microscope is a multi-viewing microscope with five adjustable heads that allows multiple users to simultaneously observe specimens. It has a high-quality optical system that provides clear images even at high magnifications.
