


MDS SYLLABUS – ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE
POSTGRADUATES
To acquire the knowledge about various oral pathological conditions, correlate with the general/systemic involvement and to acquire the skill in the laboratory investigations involving hematology, cytology, and histopathology in health and disease and correlate the same with the clinical features.
PROCEDURAL AND OPERATIVE SKILLS
I YEAR
- Examination of Patient – Case history recordings – 10
- Biopsy and FNAC – Observe, Assist & Perform under supervision
- Carving of Natural and Large size Permanent teeth
- Ground section and Decalcification
- Hematological procedures
- Library dissertation
II YEAR
- Performing tissue processing and staining including Special Stains
- Macroscopical and microscopical examination of a specimen
- Immunohistochemistry and hematological procedures
- Short-Term research projects
- Main dissertation
III YEAR
- Histopathological interpretation and reporting of cases
- Completion of short-term research projects
- Completion of the Main dissertation
- Publication
All the students shall complete the minimum quota for the teaching and learning activities
as follows
1. | Journal Clubs | 5 in a year |
2. | Seminars | 5 in a year |
3. | Clinical Case Presentations | 4 in a year |
4. | The lecture took for Undergraduates | 3 in a year |
5. | Scientific Paper / Poster Presentations in State/ National Level Conference | 1 paper/posters during three years of training workshop period |
6. | Scientific Publication (optional) | One Publication in any Indexed Scientific Journal |
7. | Submission of Main Dissertation Synopsis | One Synopsis within six months from the date of commencement of the course |
8. | Submission of Dissertation | One main dissertation six months before appearing for the university examination |
9. | Submission of Library Dissertation | One dissertation within eighteen months from the date of commencement of the course |
