MDS SYLLABUS – ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE

POSTGRADUATES

To acquire the knowledge about various oral pathological conditions, correlate with the general/systemic involvement and to acquire the skill in the laboratory investigations involving hematology, cytology, and histopathology in health and disease and correlate the same with the clinical features.

PROCEDURAL AND OPERATIVE SKILLS
I YEAR

  1. Examination of Patient – Case history recordings – 10
  2. Biopsy and FNAC – Observe, Assist & Perform under supervision
  3. Carving of Natural and Large size Permanent teeth
  4. Ground section and Decalcification
  5. Hematological procedures
  6. Library dissertation

II YEAR

  1. Performing tissue processing and staining including Special Stains
  2. Macroscopical and microscopical examination of a specimen
  3. Immunohistochemistry and hematological procedures
  4. Short-Term research projects
  5. Main dissertation

III YEAR

  1. Histopathological interpretation and reporting of cases
  2. Completion of short-term research projects
  3. Completion of the Main dissertation
  4. Publication

All the students shall complete the minimum quota for the teaching and learning activities
as follows

1.Journal Clubs5 in a year
2.Seminars5 in a year
3.Clinical Case Presentations4 in a year
4.The lecture took for Undergraduates3 in a year
5.Scientific Paper / Poster Presentations in State/ National Level Conference1 paper/posters during three years of training workshop period
6.Scientific Publication (optional)One Publication in any Indexed Scientific Journal
7.Submission of Main Dissertation SynopsisOne Synopsis within six months from the date of commencement of the course
8.Submission of Dissertation One main dissertation six months before appearing for the university examination
9.Submission of Library DissertationOne dissertation within eighteen months from the date of commencement of the course
