The department has conducted Value added course exclusively for the Undergraduates students every academic year with the main objectives of Explanation of Immunohistochemistry (IHC) technique and its application in Oral Pathology apart from the regular curriculum. The course included the theory and practical session with around sixteen hours duration . The students had given good feedback on the program and benefited out of it.
Tobacco Cessation
Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences, Tobacco Cessation center commenced its “Value added Course on Tobacco Cessation Counselling” in collaboration with the Government of Puducherry, Department of Health and Family Welfare Services, State Tobacco Control Cell, Government Chest Clinic, Puducherry on National Science Day 2023. This course aimed to train the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively counsel the individuals seeking help to quit tobacco use. Through a comprehensive curriculum, participants will explore evidence-based strategies, communication techniques, and behavioral interventions to support tobacco cessation efforts. This course was designed in such a way consisting of 11 hours for theory sessions and 7 hours for practical sessions followed by evaluation. The program is been planned to be conducted every year for the benefit of students.
